You are invited to send in your pictures of anything related to the Festivals in Edinburgh. So if you see a juggler on the Royal Mile, a well know celebrity on the Comedy Bus, or just you and your mates enjoying the Festival spirit, then snap it and send it to us.

How to enter

Send your festival pictures to: photoblog@scotsman.com

Entry to the Competition is FREE* and there is no limit to the number of entries per person.

Please include the following information in your message:

  • your name
  • picture title
  • brief description, including where it was taken
    (event, street, venue and date taken)

Picture formats

Picture phone: most networks will allow you to send photos directly to email as an MMS multimedia message. Please take the largest picture size your phone will allow.

Digital camera: once downloaded to your computer, send your picture by email. Please ensure your picture is in JPEG (*.jpg) format.

Film camera & scanner: scan your picture and send by email. Please ensure your picture is in JPEG (*.jpg) format.

* MMS messages will be charged at standard network rates. For more information please consult your provider.

If you submit an image, you do so in accordance with The Scotsman Publications Ltd standard Terms and Conditions.

In contributing to Edinburgh Festival's Picture Messaging Competition you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media.

It's important to note, however, that you still own the copyright to everything you contribute to the Edinburgh Festival and The Scotsman websites. This means you are perfectly free to take what you have produced and re-publish it somewhere else. The Scotsman Publications Ltd cannot guarantee that all pictures will be published and we reserve the right to edit your comments.

Contributions must be civil and tasteful. Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act is strictly prohibited. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trade mark, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights.

All prize winners may be required to allow their names to be used for publicity reasons on this website. We reserve the right to publish a photograph and/or statement from the grand prize winner. There is no cash alternative to any prizes offered. No correspondence will be entered in to.

If a prize winner cannot claim their prize, it will be offered to the next placed person.
