Theatre review: The Fanny Hill Project
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: The Fanny Hill Project at Zoo (Venue 124) reviewed by Susan Mansfield
A young wannabe actress in New York gets a job in a foot fetish club. Back in Britain, her story is sought out by a pair of tasteless gameshow hosts.
Young company TheatreState pack some bright ideas into this devised show and clearly want to say something serious about the objectification of women in the media, but it gets mostly lost in the dreadful karaoke and general chaos of the production.
The departure of their male lead isn’t helping either, but there needs to be more coherence if this show is going to hit its mark.
