Theatre review: Substance
Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: Substance, at C nova (Venue 145), review by Sally Stott.
Depictions of a woman being thrown about and raped by a crusty, chauvinistic gang leader aren’t made any more palatable by being portrayed through physical theatre.
Rather than critique the horrors it depicts, Traverse 50 writer Eva O’Connor’s script simply plonks them in front of you.
It’s an unpleasant and unnecessary experience.
MORE INFO: Substance at C nova – until 26 August.
