Theatre review: Project Lolita
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: Project Lolita at theSpace on the Mile (Venue 39b), reviewed by David Pollock
In the near future, Operation Yewtree has taken on a new and sinister form. The police hire specialist underage girls like Katie, looking for revenge following the murder of her cousin, to act as honeytraps to lure suspected paedophiles. Despite teacher Joe’s apparently honourable nature, Katie’s police handler is determined that she force him into action.
Writer/director Sophie Foster’s debut play shows a lot of potential, although at this point it’s raw and imperfect. Lead actress Charlotte Green is an exceptional emerging talent.
Until 24 August.
