Theatre review: How Hard Do You Hum When You Cum?
Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: How Hard Do You Hum When You Cum?, reviewed by theSpace @ Venue 45 (Venue 45), reviewed by David Pollock
As the garish title suggests, this piece isn’t backwards when it comes to talking about sex, and unfortunately a lack of much insight or depth transforms a quirky mixture of reasonably well-played dance, drama and performance art vignettes into more of a typical Fringe shock vehicle.
One performer eroticises her salad sandwich, another delivers a slam poetry ode to waiting in a toilet queue and then encountering urinary problems, a third sings an overwrought power ballad to her vagina.
There’s a sense that what must have seemed bold in the rehearsal room just doesn’t take an audience with it, although the dance sequences – including a spacehopper-bound finale – are fun.
