Theatre review: Open Wide Tour
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: Open Wide Tour at The Fiddler’s Elbow (Venue 71), reviewed by Alison Kerr
This show is so upfront about homosexuality and the extreme reactions it provokes that it comes with a 16 certificate and still manages to haemorrhage more than two-thirds of its audience during the first half hour.
Gird your loins, as you will have every hateful euphemism for gayness thrust in your face – along with in-depth details of sexual practices – as the two performers tackle the subjects of homophobia, taboos and civil rights, especially as they affect gay people across the globe. It’s not for the faint-hearted.
