Theatre review: The Vanish Inquisition
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: The Vanish Inquisition at Underbelly Cowgate (Venue 61), reviewed by Alison Kerr
This one-man show about a quartet of characters searching for the actor who created and then abandoned them starts out promisingly, with a ten-minute turn by “Uncle Ted”, a cheesy 1970s-style Northern comedian whose catchphrase (“D’you get it? D’you get it? They got it – straight up!”) and accompanying wiggle are very funny.
Unfortunately, the subsequent characters came over as less fully formed and less likable, and the theme of the actor and his relationship with the alter egos who depend on him gets lost in the mix.
Until 25 August. Today 5:20pm
