Theatre review: Safe
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: Safe at theSpace at Surgeon’s Hall (Venue 36), reviewed by Sally Stott
With three strong turns from Vic Gray, Martyn Williams and John Scowen, a cast the production boasts could be the oldest on the Fringe, this is an amiable comedy about a group of bank robbers who get stuck in a safe during a job.
Writer and director Luke Coldham’s script sets up the three anti-heroes whose camaraderie keeps things moving, but the scenario is contrived, the gags clumsy and the surreal fantasy numbers, though fun, are insufficiently connected to the story.
