Theatre review: Meal Ticket
Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: Meal Ticket at Underbelly, Cowgate (Venue 61), reviewed by Susan Mansfield
The pink carpet has been unrolled for the minor celebrities attending the Starstruck Magazine Sassy Sisters Awards. But it’s chaos behind the scenes where wideboy events manager Jason, his sidekick (and drama queen) Camden and a small but long-suffering group of waiting staff are trying to serve Champagne and canapes.
Poised somewhere between farce and satire, the show does have things to say about what it means when the only job you can get is serving canapes to people from TOWIE for the minimum wage. But it needs more pace and humour to keep it rolling along.
MORE INFO: Meal Ticket at Underbelly, Cowgate (Venue 61), until 25 August
