Theatre review: Longing For Grace
Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: Longing For Grace at Hill Street Theatre (Venue 41), reviewed by Fiona Shepherd
Grace Kiley gives an elegant and glamorous performance as her almost namesake Grace Kelly, but there are clumsy lines in Longing For Grace, a one-woman show which revisits key moments in the life of the screen beauty turned princess, concentrating on her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco and sacrifice of her acting career.
Names are dropped with profligacy during one-sided conversations which don’t ring true because they are used to shoehorn in biographical facts which would have been incorporated more smoothly had this been presented as a straight monologue.
