Theatre review: Bonk!
Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: Bonk! at Jury’s Inn (Venue 260), reviewed by Claire Smith
Based on the book Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach of the New York Times, this show contains some serious and rather stomach-churning anatomical detail.
It also includes a faked female orgasm which frankly knocks Meg Ryan into a cocked hat.
It is an interesting idea and the extracts from Roach may teach you some curious facts about sex.
But the back-story about a group of geeky scientists in a sex lab is unbelievable and clumsy and limp. And despite the apparently bold subject matter the performance is overly timid.
